POSITION DESCRIPTION
PRODUCTION MANAGER
Res is a privately held, ISO/TS 16949 certified manufacturer of stamped metal components, assemblies and value added services. The company was founded in 1907 and has a solid reputation in the markets it serves (automotive, clean-technology industries, agriculture, turf-care, commercial lighting, and commercial cookware). Core competencies include: innovative equipment, tool and process design; medium to high volume progressive die stamping supported by welding, next level assembly, and a wide range of outside services.

The Production Manager is responsible for the strategic direction and management of our production and technical services teams. This role is accountable for providing consistent leadership and development opportunities for associates as well as executing the master schedule to ensure Res delivers quality product to our customers on-time, in a safe and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop Associates
- Coach and develop associates to support Res’ strategic and operational goals
- Motivate team to achieve a high level of engagement
- Promote and enforce the highest level of excellence with respect to safety, quality and housekeeping
- Recommend career development and cross training opportunities
- Promote associate engagement in continuous improvement efforts
Problem Solving
- Promote daily problem solving and improvement of manufacturing processes
- Manage the stability of operations in real time
- Lead Daily Management meetings
- Proactively manage achievement of each shift’s production plan for the day/week/month
- Track progress of all production metrics including Operational Availability
- Lead problem solving for gaps between the plan and actual schedule acheivement
- Manage priorities and allocate resources to ensure the master schedule is met
- Ensure thorough root cause analysis is performed with evidence of validated resolution
Plan for the Future
- Benchmark best in class operations/processes and develop action plans that align with Res’ strategic direction
- Recommend staffing plans and work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate resources are available
- Make recommendations during quotation process relative to manufacturing standards
- Make timely recommendations related to equipment maintenance/repair/upgrades
- Develop annual operating budget for Manufacturing
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree, technical or Engineering preferred
- Five years progressive management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude (i.e. intuitive understanding of mechanical processes)
- Familiar with lean manufacturing principles and/or Toyota Production System
- Experience in contract manufacturing
- Familiar with quality management system certifications (e.g. ISO/TS 16949)
- Proven track record of encouraging continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment
- Familiar with metal stamping process
